Job Summary
Knapp Veterinary Hospital (KVH) is seeking two Full-Time DVMs (Part-Time applicants considered) to join our established, growing, 5-doctor small animal practice in Columbus, Ohio. Operating in a non-corporate, collaborative environment since 1945, KVH delivers comprehensive, modern veterinary care with a focus on disease prevention, wellness, and client education. This role offers a diverse, interesting caseload and a supportive culture of camaraderie, teamwork, and active mentorship.
Core Responsibilities
Preventative Medicine: Deliver comprehensive wellness care, life-stage planning, and client education on disease prevention.
Caseload Management: Diagnose and treat a diverse daily caseload, including urgent care and sick animal visits.
Surgical Procedures: Perform routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries, alongside limited orthopedic procedures.
General Dentistry: Execute comprehensive dental assessments, cleanings, and oral surgeries including extractions.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with the medical team, utilizing vast internal resources to optimize patient outcomes.
Staff Mentorship: Actively mentor and support new graduate DVMs as part of KVH's team-oriented approach to care.
Medical Records: Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) integrated with internal imaging and lab software.
Client Communication: Engage compassionately with a diverse client base via face-to-face visits, embedded text, and email.
Work Environment & Practice Features
Setting: Independent, non-corporate, 5-doctor small animal general practice.
Technology: Paperless practice utilizing electronic medical records, integrated imaging/labs, and digital client tools.
Support: Dedicated team of experienced technicians, veterinary assistants, and management staff.
Location: Clintonville neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio—highly accessible and close to downtown and The Ohio State University campus.
Requirements
Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
Licensure: Eligible for or currently holding a valid veterinary license in the state of Ohio.
Experience: Open to all experience levels; experienced DVMs or motivated new graduates seeking active mentorship are encouraged to apply.
Core Competencies: Strong surgical and dental aptitude, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a patient-first mindset.
